Ingredients

  • 3 cups basil leaves
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup pine nuts
  • ½ cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • ¾ cup parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper

 

Directions

  1. Combine basil, garlic, and pine nuts in a food processor and blend until well chopped.
  2. Add the olive oil and process until you get a smooth paste.
  3. Transfer to a medium saucepan and put on medium heat.
  4. Add the parmesan cheese and stir until well combined.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.

 

Notes

You can substitute parmesan cheese for romano cheese, which has a stronger flavor, or pecorino cheese.
