Which Bonsai Tools do you Need to Take Care of your Bonsai Tree

It is very important that you have the adequate tools to take good care of your bonsai tree.

Basic tools

  • Shears: they are used to cut small branches, leaves, and roots. Choose a shape and size that is adapted to your bonsai.
  • Pliers: they are used to remove larger branches from the trunk without leaving a scar on the trunk.

Advanced tools

Pruning tools

  • Pruning shears: they are in between shears and pliers. Pruners are used to cut branches that are too big for shears, but too small for pliers.
  • Leaf cutters: they are used to cut the leaves.
  • Foldable saws: they are used to cut branches that are too big for pliers.
  • Grafting knives: they are used to make an incision in the bark of the trunk in order to insert a graft.
